I think the problem is that this laptop already has an FTDI driver which is not signed. (Installed by the Arduino IDE, I suspect). Since it's the same version (except for digital signature) as the KFlop one, Windows doesn't see the KFlop one as newer and just ignores efforts to install it. I've tried uninstalling and deleting the driver, but it gets automagically installed as soon as I plug in the KFlop cable. Still looking for ideas how to make this work.

David,

have a read of my post, and Tom's one over on CNCzone about how I eventually got around the signing problem on Win 7 64bit - http://www.cnczone.com/forums/dynomotion-kflop-kanalog/291890-kflop-signature-driver-error-code052-post1863018.html#post1863018

I've already been through the uninstall/delete software/reinstall/reboot dance a half-dozen times to no effect. Part of the problem is that I never get a "Failed to find driver" message - it always seems to install the FTDI driver that already exists on the system. I've deleted the driver files from C:\WIndows\System32\drivers and other places, told WIndows I had a disk, blah, blah,  but the same thing keeps coming back. Why that driver apparently works elsewhere without complaints about signatures is equally baffling. I don't want to disable driver signing since a signed driver exists - I just can't seem to make it work.

    Hi David,

Does a KFLOP -Motion Controller 4.XX show in the Device Manager?

Are you selecting Update Driver for it?

Are you Browsing to the \KMotion434a\USB Driver directory?

It shouldn't be required but if necessary FTDI has a utility for removing all FTDI Drivers.

    http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Utilities.htm#CDMUninstaller

Vendor = 0403 Product 6001 is the standard FTDI Driver

Vendor = 0403 Product F231 is the KFLOP Driver

    Regards

    Yes

c:\KMotion434\USB Driver. I'm downloading from http://dynomotion.com/Software/Download.html which links to this as the signed driver. It does not contain "a", just 4.34

    Hi David,

The V4.33 Signed drivers seem to work for everything except W7 64-bit.

We have newer signed drivers in V4.34a that seem to work for W7 64-bit.  You don't need to use that KMotion Test Version to use the included USB Drivers. Links are here:
